Anna knew she forgave too easily, but as Trevor recounted their history together her heart slowly began to melt. She loved having her best friend and boyfriend combined into one. Her friends had been wary of their friendship-turned- relationship. She knew the cliché – boy falls in love with best friend, and their friendship is ruined, but she wanted to change the stakes. She wanted to be the exception to the rule. She was the quintessential girl and well aware of it, but that did not stop her from kissing Trevor back the first time he leaned in and changed everything. But now she did not know how she was going to live without him. She loved her friends, she really did, but at the end of the day she was always happier when she had a boyfriend. She always had random guys here and there who were amused by her antics; usually no one met up to her actual standards, until two years ago, when she met Trevor… “I want to be with you again… but…” Anna glanced at her phone. Why was it whenever she was having a conversation she would get texts and Facebook IMs distracting her from her focus? Numerous people had told her how rude it is to text while talking; she had been working on it: although it was so hard to ignore a text….. It wasn’t as if she was trying to be rude. Trevor reached for her phone. “Can you just focus for a minute? God when we were together you couldn’t stop texting me…and now you’re looking at other conversations? I don’t get it!” his voice started to rise; he was getting frustrated with her. He really could not afford to get angry though; he was the one who had dumped her. Anna nervously pulled her messy hair into a bun. “I can’t talk about this right now… maybe later, I have to meet people right now.” She didn’t know why she was so desperate to leave this conversation, but she would rather listen to her friend’s problems than deal with this right now. She didn’t know if she should be back together with him; she knew she had unintentionally neglected her friends in the process. The past few weeks had been hell; she was not going to lie. She had been sobbing to anyone who would listen. She had been writing texts to Trevor that she would never send, watching romantic comedies— the usual break up remedies. If it was supposed to fix your heart, why was hers still in shambles? “Don’t go!” He touched her hand and looked her in the eye. “Please don’t. I really do not know what I was thinking… You can text me as much as you want… stalk me again… Life is so weird without you. I can’t do this; I don’t think we could be normal friends after what we had… Let’s start over!” He was pleading at this point.
